In honor of Epiphany (when the three magi visited Jesus), the minister talked about the irony of men of higher status bringing gifts to the offspring of two commoners (Joseph and Mary). Even more ironic, was that God chose Joseph and Mary to be the surrogates of the "King of the Jews", instead of someone of higher birth. According to the minister, this demonstrates what he calls "The Great Reversal".
As the minister stated, God takes ordinary people (like Joseph and Mary) and does extraordinary things through them, in his own way, and in his own time. Even if the person he calls does not have the proper skills or means to meet the task requested, God empowers them with what is needed.
Just as God recognized, leaders do not have to come from the top echelons of your organization. They can come from anywhere. All that you need to do is be on the lookout for these individuals. Once you find them, provide them with an opportunity to show you what they can do. Then (and this is extremely important) empower them. Provide them with the necessary resources to be successful. If you are willing to do this, you just might be surprised what extraordinary things they accomplish.
